For those tagging along on this year's trip, yesterday was day two. We
crossed into Kentucky from Tennessee then into Ohio, West Virginia,
and ended the day at our hotel in Pittsburgh!
We haven't actually seen the Steel City yet, will probably catch a
glimpse on our way to today's family Father's Day cookout/get
together. My aunt says she expects 40 people or so! What a warm
welcome home!
We snapped lots of pics, so here are a few for you to enjoy:
My head is full of random thoughts and generally useless tidbits of information. I figure I just as well share them with the rest of the world...

Henderson vacation!
We are heading to Pittsburgh for vacation and to visit family. I am taking along all my Facebook friends with random, usually silly, photos, comments, and observations. For those not on FB, though, I wanted to share some random pics from our first day's adventures. The roughest part hit us around Nashville. We landed in rush hour traffic in the middle of a summer downpour!
Popped in Chicago
I recently took a trip with a colleague to Chicago. We stayed far enough outside of town that we had to take the trains each day to get where we were going. I had never ridden a mass transit train before. I was shocked they still use live conductors. I was in 2012 and 1940 all at the same time. I snapped a couple pics while I was there:

Well, since we're all eating each other, why not a parody? "People Eat People"
People Eat People
a parody based on "People Are People"
a parody based on "People Are People"
People eat people so why should it be
Your hand and eye should taste altogether awfully
So we're different colors
But it's all red when we bleed
And different people have different needs
It's obvious you ate me
Though I'm making this song
I know that I just met you
So do you like me well-done?
I can't understand
What makes a man
Eat another man
Help me understand
People eat people so why should it be
You like 'em fried with a side of jelly
Help me understand
Now you're punching and you're kicking
And you just can't get free
I was hoping I could have your toes fricasseed
So far I've eaten your face
But I'm sure with a twist
It'll just take a while to eat you
From your head to your wrist
I can't understand
What makes a man
Eat another man
Help me understand...

Distracted Driving - The Real Cause
(image from http://wheelwatcherpro.wordpress.com/safe-driving-blog/)
Experts say that technology has dramatically increased incidents of distracted driving. I propose a different theory. Come with me and I'll explain.
When I was a kid, "distracted driving" meant my Dad was straddled between the front and back seats trying to grab hold of one of us kids as we jumped around the back seat. All the while, he drove the car with three fingers and one foot. Now, THAT was distracted driving.
Of course, sometimes, food is involved with distracted driving. For example, the youngin' in the back sat wants his or her chicken nuggets, so the parent has to try to hand fries, drinks, and nuggets back to the child while keeping the car between lines. Spilling hot coffee? Yes, while trying to soothe the kids, the driver sneaks a drink only to have the lid pop off and spill molten hot liquid into the lap.
Often, drivers are distracted by objects flying around the vehicle. What kinds of objects? Papers, art projects, balls, yo-yos, action figures, siblings, shoes, used tissues... These often originate from the rear of the vehicle. Who is in the back? Usually, the children.
What about technology? Drivers often have to deal with shuffling DVDs, changing music stations, connecting iPods, etc to keep the kiddos entertained, all while driving down the road. What about talking and/or texting? How many times does that involve talking to/texting to/yelling at a child on the other end?
Do you see a common denominator here? Children are the root of distracted driving. It's a theory. I'm still ironing out the kinks.
