Jerry Reed passed away Sunday from complications due to emphysema, from what we're hearing online and in the news. I was about eight years old when I went to see "Smoky and the Bandit" with my uncle and brother and whoever else went along. I bet I sang "Eastbound and Down" a million times that summer, and probably a million more over the course of my lifetime so far.
I know I saw him in other movies and on TV, and I always liked watching him. He was very charismatic and so far as I remember, had that smile permanently fixed on his face.
His 'long way to go' came to an end this past weekend....
